We Are Hiring: Head Roaster
Head Roaster
Noni’s Coffee Roasters is growing, and we’re looking for a friendly, knowledgeable and coffee-obsessed person to join our small team.
(Initially Part-Time)
Start Date: May / June 2026
Hours: Monday | Wednesday | Friday
3 days per week initially, growing to 4 days / full-time
We’re a small roastery nestled in the Stroud valleys, focused on sourcing great coffee, thoughtful roasting, and building something with real care behind it.
We’re looking for a hands-on Head Roaster to lead roasting and quality control. This role works closely with the director but is also trusted to run roasting and QC independently - helping shape how our coffee evolves over time.
The Role
You’ll take day-to-day ownership of roasting and QC, ensuring everything leaving the roastery is consistent, dialled in, and tasting as it should.
This is a practical, hands-on role; roasting, cupping, refining and improving - while working closely with the director on coffee direction and alongside an ops manager supporting the day-to-day running of the roastery.
You’ll be someone who can both collaborate and take the lead when needed
Key responsibilities
-
Roasting and managing weekly production
-
Managing green stock and ordering
-
Maintaining and evolving roast profiles
-
Leading quality control (cupping, dial-ins, consistency), maintaining standards and making decisions when needed
-
Tasting and checking coffees to keep everything consistent and on point
-
Working closely with the director on coffee direction
-
Collaborating with the ops manager on production flow
-
Helping with packaging and fulfilment when needed
What we’re looking for
-
Solid roasting experience (specialty preferred)
-
A strong, reliable palate and confidence leading cupping and making quality decisions
-
Someone who cares deeply about consistency and the details
-
Comfortable taking ownership and working independently when needed
-
Practical, organised, and happy to get stuck in
-
Comfortable working in a small team
-
An interest in sustainability and the wider coffee journey
The setup
-
Starting at 3 days per week, with a clear path to 4 days / full-time
-
Based in a countryside roastery - a calm setting but with high standards
-
A small team, working together to build a brand that has a positive impact
Pay
Pro rata from a full-time range of £28k–£35k (based on experience)
Rough guide:
-
3 days: £18k–£22k
-
4 days (future): £24k–£30k
Why this role
A chance to take real ownership of roasting and quality, working closely with the director to shape the coffee and build something with care over time.
This is a role for someone who wants to be hands-on, think about the details, and play a meaningful part in how a small roastery grows.
If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.
